Iran is planning an enormous expansion plan of its petrochemical capacity (PP, 1 May 2002). The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) aims to expand Iran's capacity from the 9 million tons per year produced in 2001 to 20 million tons per year in 2005 and to 27 million tons per year in 2013.
